A better way to transform your fireplace
Are you just wanting as simple tile over the facade or painting of the existing wood fireplace and mantle? Or do you want a completely custom hearth, new mantle, new fireplace insert, and chimney rebuild designed to burn efficiently and provide a high level of warmth to the home like a direct vent fireplace insert?
Sometimes what is designed might not be what is easy or best. It boils down to the hours our technicians have to install it and the materials you choose for your fireplace.
What we see a lot of in Texas is masonry chimneys without a fireplace insert. These are the old wood-burning fireplaces often with a gas start or log lighter. These tend to be some of the easiest fireplace remodels. You can easily convert to gas by either installing a set of gas logs or a gas fireplace insert. These are rated to burn wood and there is very little needed to change structurally aka with the existing masonry.
Existing Gas fireplaces are also not difficult to remodel. Sometimes it is a simple replacement of the insert or change of the gas burners.
The sky is the limit when making a custom hearth. We have already addressed the inserts and fireplaces converting from wood to a custom gas fireplace or vice versa to a wood burning fireplace insert above. The hearth is what most people look at in a room and really makes that warm family room in your home. A great custom hearth, mantle and façade that just fits providing hours of warm to your room is worth every dime spent. Once the inside of the firebox is determined wood or gas custom or insert it is comes down to a matter of taste and customization.
We have direct relationships with most hearth, mantle, and tile suppliers to provide just the custom-fit look to your home. We provide only the best custom installation with well-made quality parts and materials providing efficiency and warmth throughout your home. As our technicians to see some of the well-built or even one of their recent custom install projects we have made recently.
Large or efficient? Wood Burning fireplace vs Direct Vent Air.
The most expensive part of a fireplace is either structural like converting gas to the wood burning fireplace as this may take a completely new fireplace insert as well as a chimney and flue. Insert size is also something to be considered the larger the gas-burning fireplace insert the more expensive it can be.
In Texas, people tend to overbuy. We have big rooms and therefore people want to put in a big wood burning fireplace or gigantic direct vent gas insert. The Fireplace and fireplace insert should always match the room. Wood-burning fireplaces tend to have fewer problems over time a gas fireplace insert has many functional components such as remotes electrical starts that tend to break over time and due to the specificity of some of the items have to be completely replaced as the manufacturers of remotes and automatic electric starters tend to change quite often.
A wood-burning fireplace insert is typically the best most affordable and efficient option. They are functionally simple when compared to a gas fireplace insert and produce significantly more heat. Plus the joy and aesthetic of a real fire from wood and the heat are tough to replicate. Some large gas inserts can come close without the combustion of wood but do not have the efficiency or heat of a wood insert.
Just something to also consider when remodeling your hearth and home is that a fireplace insert is very specific and not all manufacturers are the same. A fireplace insert will determine how much heat, the type of fire, the efficiency of gas use, and much more. Trusted brands sometimes make nonprofessional products that can be found at big box stores. We highly recommend not using these products. They do not provide the air circulation, heat or build a professional-grade product would provide. These are the units we typically see in our service as they tend to be cheaper and made of lesser materials. Although the brand is the same the fireplace insert can differ drastically from the heat produced to how much wood it can burn.
Our free estimate process can help you power through some of the large decisions and overcome some of the high costs so you can enjoy sooner without haste compared to one of our competitive offers. Come see the good work one of our technicians can provide and believe us when we say we build customers that enjoy the efficiency and workmanship of our products.
If you need a company with a great reputation to add some heat or just the joy of having a fire in your home look no farther.
Chimney sweeps and cleans should always be preceded by a chimney inspection. A chimney inspection will identify if your chimney is safe to use and any major issues prior to the cleaning service. Brick is one of the best materials to be used in a fireplace hearth due to its consistency and availability
A chimney sweep is a person who clears ash and soot from chimneys.
